Javier Arenas was an All-American cornerback at Alabama, where he helped Nick Saban and the Tide win the 2009 national championship.

Once Saban arrived, Alabama didn’t lose much during Arenas’ college career — and they didn’t lose at all in 2009 — so the sample size is small, but I asked Arenas what it’s like to play for Saban, especially after a loss.

Arenas, a second-round pick by the New York Jets in 2010 and now a free agent working out daily in our hometown of Tampa, Fla., said playing for Saban isn’t anything like what most people think. I don’t want to give away the ending, but you can tell by my expression in the video the answer he gave was not the answer I was expecting.

We also talked about this current Alabama team, and whether it’s back in the national championship hunt after thoroughly thumping Georgia last week.

And then we dived into a little chalk talk, revisiting the pick-six I threw against Alabama in 2009 and discussing roles and schemes when a defender makes an interception, like Eddie Jackson did last week.
