Good news for South Carolina fans, the Gamecocks have just received a new commitment for the program’s 2020 recruiting cycle.

The fifth commitment of the 2020 recruiting cycle comes from Phenix City, Ala. native Javion Cohen. The 6-foot-4, 267-pound Central High School standout ranks as a three-star prospect, the nation’s No. 42 offensive tackle and Alabama’s No. 24 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Following this pledge, the Gamecocks have the nation’s No. 18 recruiting class, which ranks No. 8 in the SEC.

While he’s only currently rated as a three-star prospect, the Gamecocks got in on Cohen early and were followed by the likes of Alabama, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Florida State and Georgia Tech, which all offered him a scholarship over the last month.

Cohen announced his commitment with the following message on Twitter:

“I’m very blessed and excited to announce my commitment to the University of South Carolina! Thank you @CoachWMuschamp and @FBCoachWolf for this opportunity! #SpursUp Let’s Goooooo!”

Will Muschamp confirmed the commitment with his trademark, “Spurs Up!” tweet.
