Javon Bullard will not practice on Monday, Georgia coach Kirby Smart said after the defensive back suffered a left ankle injury on the opening drive on Saturday during the win over Ball State.

Bullard left the game following the team’s opening drive against Ball State, and didn’t return.

“As far as where he is, probably won’t know until Wednesday’s practice, whether he’s going to be able to go or not,” Smart said. “We’ve had guys in that position with that similar injury be able to play. But I really have no clue until we get further in the week.”

In Bullard’s absence, Georgia put in David Daniel-Sisavanh and Dan Jackson at safety, and the secondary got interceptions from Malaki Starks and Tykee Smith.

Bullard has received plenty of attention coming into the season, including being named to the preseason Media Days All-SEC First Team, and he was selected to AP Preseason All-America Second Team.

He made 2 interceptions in the national championship game last year, and overall played in 14 games, as he started in 10 at defensive back, and totaled 46 total stops, which was 5th-best on the team.
