Former Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart will make his first career NFL start on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.
On Wednesday, Dart was asked how he’s handling the pressure knowing that first start is upcoming. Dart responded that he doesn’t really feel pressure – but to be honest, it’s kind of hard to make out exactly what he means with his answer.
You be the judge:
Perhaps Dart prefers the word anxious, or feels the reporters preferred the word with his question. After all, how much pressure is there on a rookie making his first start? Few people would expect it to be perfect right off the bat. In a way, Dart kind of echoed that with his answer.
However you want to spin it, the Giants definitely needed the change at quarterback and the former Ole Miss star is ready to step up. Dart played very well in Lane Kiffin’s system last season, throwing for 4,279 yards with 29 touchdowns and just 6 interceptions. It was enough to grab New York’s attention. The Giants drafted Dart with the 25th pick of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Dart’s first start pits him up against a defense featuring star players such as Derwin James, who was named an AFC Player of the Week in Week 3 against Denver
