Tennessee is getting ready for a big game against Mississippi State, and a key point of emphasis for the Volunteers is getting healthy. The good news is that, according to reports, DL Jaxson Moi should be good to go for Week 5.

On3 Sports college football reporter Pete Nakos reported the news on Wednesday.

Moi is a former three-star recruit from San Diego and a senior leader for the Volunteers. The 6-2, 307-pound DL has been sidelined since the season opener against Syracuse, when he was injured on the game’s third play. He tried to push it and play against Georgia, but could not go against the Bulldogs. He will also be available with the added time off after missing the UAB game.

Josh Heupel expressed optimism that Moi would return to the field Saturday during his Monday press conference, pointing the media to the Wednesday night SEC Availability Report. Moi posted a positive message on his Instagram story Tuesday night, indicating that he could return to the field against the Bulldogs.

“God, thank you is truly all I can say,” Moi wrote. “Let’s ride!”

The 6-foot-2, 305-pound lineman was solid at defensive tackle for Tennessee a season ago, playing 246 snaps. After transferring from Stanford following his sophomore season, Moi totaled 16 tackles and 2 sacks as a rotational player.

It is also worth noting that Moi was expected to have a bigger role this season, too. After playing an improved offense like Mississippi State, the Volunteers need all the help they can get on defense.
