Jayden Daniels and Malik Nabers played together at LSU for 2 seasons, delivering some electric performances for the Tigers.

Now, the former LSU Tigers are both in the NFL after being selected in the 1st round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Daniels is the quarterback for the Washington Commanders while Nabers is a wide receiver for the rival New York Giants.

The 2 former teammates met as opponents for the first time on Sunday. Daniels’ Commanders got the last laugh, winning the game by a score of 21-18.

After the game, Daniels and Nabers swapped jerseys, as is common for friends to do after games. Daniels noted that after the game both players received special jerseys, as this game represented Daniels’ first win and Nabers’ first 100-yard performance.

“It’s funny, he got my first win jersey and I got his first 100-yard jersey,” Daniels said. “It means a lot to both of us.”

Daniels completed 23-of-29 passes for 226 yards while Nabers caught 10 passes for 127 yards and 1 TD. Daniels mentioned that this is the “first of many” times the friends will match up against each other in the NFL.

The duo put up elite numbers in college. Daniels won the Heisman Trophy in 2023 after throwing for 3,812 yards and rushing for 1,134. Nabers caught 89 passes for a whopping 1,569 yards and 14 TDs in 2023 for the Tigers. Both players cemented themselves as top NFL prospects, and both should have long careers ahead of them.
