Jayden Daniels reacts to miraculous Hail Mary: ‘Nothing but God, man’

Jayden Daniels was questionable to play for much of the week. In the end, the rookie quarterback would suit up for the Washington Commanders, and Daniels even came up with the play of the game and likely the craziest play you’ll see all season.
Facing the Chicago Bears, the Commanders held a slim 12-7 lead for much of the 4th quarter, and that lead eventually evaporated as Caleb Williams led a go-ahead touchdown drive inside a minute remaining. With 25 seconds left and just one timeout, Daniels and the offense had their back up against the wall while trailing 15-12.
Daniels was able to get the ball up to Washington’s 48-yard line for one final heave at the buzzer, and he delivered. His final Hail Mary left his hand around his own 35 yard line and traveled all the way to the goal line in the air before being batted into the arms of Noah Brown for a game-winning touchdown.
Immediately after the game, a stunned Daniels was asked to go through that miraculously play, but he was at a loss for words.
“Nothing but God, man, nothing but God. Without Him, I didn’t even think I’d be playing this week,” said Daniels. “But man, all glory to God.”
Daniels’ status was up in the air as the former LSU star battled a rib injury he sustained last week. Fortunately, he was able to get on the field and play through the ailment.
“A lot of long hours, long days, but I put myself in a position to go out here. But man, like I said, nothing but God,” Daniels acknowledged.
Even playing at less than 100%, Daniels managed to go 21-for-38 for 326 yards and a touchdown without turning the ball over. He also rushed for 52 yards in the gutsy performance.
With the win Washington is now 6-2 overall on the season and 4-0 at home with their star rookie QB. At this point, it’s hard to believe anyone will be able to keep Daniels from capturing the Offensive Rookie of the Year after a brilliant start to his NFL career.
