Jaylen Wright didn’t waste anytime to put Georgia on its heels early, as the Tennessee running back torched Georgia on the first play from scrimmage.
The Vols scored on a 75-yard play as Wright danced his way through the line and left the Bulldogs grasping for air as he got Neyland Stadium rocking early.
A slow start is nothing new for Georgia, as it saw early deficits against South Carolina and Auburn before it recovered.
The ground game has been Tennessee’s bread and butter this season, as the Vols have been among the nation’s leaders throughout the season, and has been the class of the SEC all season. The Vols have benefitted from a veteran offensive line and a 3-pronged attack of talented running backs, including Wright.
Georgia also is dealing with newcomers at linebacker following the arm injury to Jamon Dumas-Johnson.
A recipe to upset Georgia was to get the crowd into it early, and that’s exactly what the Vols did.
