Jeremy Pruitt discusses Georgia transfer Deangelo Gibbs practicing at DB again

Deangelo Gibbs, the defensive back transfer from Georgia, began his Tennessee career working at wide receiver when the Volunteers opened spring practice in March. Tuesday, he was seen working with the defense at his former position, safety.
When coach Jeremy Pruitt was asked about it after practice, he explained that it shouldn’t be taken as a sign that Gibbs wasn’t doing well at wide receiver. Speaking to reporters, Pruitt pointed to the fact that Gibbs was widely recruited as an athlete. He said that while Gibbs has done a very good job at wide receiver, the UT staff wants to find out where he has the most potential. The transition has been smooth so far for the former Grayson product. Pruitt said the fact that Tennessee uses similar “verbiage” as UGA has helped make it easy for Gibbs to catch on.
On the 247Sports Composite, Gibbs was rated as the No. 4 safety in the 2017 recruiting class.
Pruitt on Deangelo Gibbs at safety: He’s a guy who everyone recruited as an athlete. He’s done a very good job at WR. We just want an idea to see what his best position is potential wise, says it was an easy transition bc similar verbiage to Georgia.
