Jeremy Pruitt says he’s having fun being around Tennessee players entering first season

Jeremy Pruitt will likely always remember the players on the 2018 Tennessee team.
That’s because this is the first team that Pruitt is leading a squad as head coach, after serving as an assistant at the high school and college levels since 1997.
But that might not be the only reason. Pruitt told reporters at Vols fall camp on Sunday that he is enjoying being around the players on the team.
“I really like the guys on our team,” Pruitt said in the video below, which was posted on YouTube by the Knoxville News Sentinel. “They’re fun to be around, they’re willing to do whatever we ask. They’re hungry. They have not questioned anything that we’ve asked them to do, they’ve just done it. And as long as they continue to do that, we’ll be OK.”
Tennessee fans might remember this team as much as Pruitt in the future if he can lead them to a bounce-back season. Last year, the Vols went 4-8, firing coach Butch Jones before the season was over.
From 2013-17, Pruitt served as the defensive coordinator at three schools (Florida State in 2013, Georgia from 2014-15 and Alabama from 2016-17).
Pruitt’s first career game as a head coach will be against West Virginia on Sept. 1. And if Tennessee notches a win, it’s safe to say that Pruitt should be having even more fun.
