Jermaine Burton was on his way to a career game, but early in the 4th quarter on Saturday at Texas A&M, Burton coughed up a costly fumble.

Burton made an 11-yard catch and wrestled for more yardage when the ball popped out and was recovered by Bryan Anderson. The 2nd and 6 play came with 11:09 left in the game.

Then after A&M couldn’t get a first down, it settled for a field goal attempt.

Randy Bond’s 41-yard field goal attempt from 41 yards was blocked by Chris Braswell, who also recovered it with 8:55 remaining. It was returned for a touchdown, but later called back on a personal foul to Dallas Turner, who made an illegal block.

That ultimately gave Alabama the ball at its own 37-yard line.
