Former Tennessee great Jerod Mayo announces he’s joining Bill Belichick’s New England coaching staff
After eight seasons on the field in New England, Jerod Mayo is returning to the Patriots but in a new role completely.
New England’s first-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, taken 10th overall by the team, Mayo hasn’t played football since 2015 when he announced his retirement from playing following eight seasons with the franchise. Now Mayo has been welcomed back into the fold following Brian Flores departure from the Patriots.
Flores served as Belichick’s linebacker coach and defensive coordinator last season but was named Miami Dolphins head coach after the Patriots won the Super Bowl.
