Alabama fans were already hoping that Najee Harris would return for his senior season in Tuscaloosa but now they may really need the junior to return to school in 2020 as one of the Crimson Tide’s young running backs is considering leaving Nick Saban’s program.

Redshirt freshman running back Jerome Ford has entered the NCAA transfer portal following his second season with the Tide. This news was first reported by Matt Zenitz of AL.com.

It should be noted that just because a player has entered the NCAA transfer portal does not mean they cannot return to their current team. This step simply allows for players to be contacted by other schools regarding a potential transfer.

Ford redshirted his first season on campus after only appearing in four games in 2018. Ford again appeared in four games this season, making one start among his four appearances. So far in his career, Ford has 151 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

The Florida native was considered one of the top tailbacks in the state of Florida and a four-star prospect when he signed with Alabama in the 2018 recruiting cycle.
