Vanderbilt head coach Jerry Stackhouse named the 1 SEC basketball coach who could keep up with him in a game of H.O.R.S.E at SEC Media Days on Wednesday. Not Dennis Gates, not Eric Musselman: Alabama’s Nate Oats.
That’s some high praise from the former NBA standout.
Vanderbilt head coach Jerry Stackhouse said that Nate Oats is the only SEC coach that could hang with him in a game of H.O.R.S.E.

Stackhouse was a former NBA All-Star, playing 18 seasons in the league with 2 All-Star appearances. Oats, on the other hand, played basketball at Maranatha Baptist University in Wisconsin. Obviously, the 48-year old Alabama coach has still got it.
Stackhouse and Vanderbilt are looking for a bounce back year in the SEC. The Commodores were picked to finish 12th in the conference by the SEC media, just above Lamont Paris and South Carolina.
Basketball season for the Commodores begins on Nov. 9 against Memphis.
