Jerry Stackhouse offered an unfortunate update about one of the top players in the SEC.
Stackhouse went on “Chase & Michelle” on ESPN 102.5 The Game in Nashville, Tennessee on Friday and shared that Liam Robbins was in surgery to repair a broken leg. Robbins averages 15 points per game, 6.8 rebounds and 3.2 blocks. The injury came against Kentucky.
“He’s actually in surgery right now to repair a fracture in his lower leg,” Stackhouse said, via 247Sports. “So he will definitely be out for the season, but we are hoping for successful surgery this morning and a speedy recovery for him to get back. Liam has been unbelievable for us this year. He has gotten better and better since he has been here. Obviously he battled with some injuries before that, but when he is playing at a high level, it elevated our whole team to a high level and gave our team a lot of confidence. And I’m sure that confidence is gonna carry on with our group through the remainder of our games. But unfortunately he won’t be able to finish up with us.”
Vanderbilt is 17-13 entering Saturday’s regular-season finale against Mississippi State, and the Commodores are believed to be outside the bubble.
