Jerry Stackhouse continues to add to Vanderbilt’s best season of SEC play under his guidance, adding a 10th win in league play Wednesday night. That is the most by the Commodores since the 2016-17 season.
This win was a particularly special one for Stackhouse’s program. After losing Liam Robbins early in the game, Jordan Wright rallied the team with 23 points off the bench, including a game-winner in the 68-66 victory.
Stackhouse noted afterward the magnitude of beating “the king at his house” with John Calipari getting the most of his Kentucky squad in recent games.
Jerry Stackhouse: “Beating the King at his house is pretty special. I have so much respect for Coach Calipari. … They were playing as good as anybody.”

Stackhouse also called it “a great moment” for the Vanderbilt program and discussed being emotional thinking about Jordan Wright’s game-winner.
Jerry Stackhouse visibly emotional, tears welling in his eyes. “This is what it’s about. This is a great moment for us, a great moment for our program.”

Cool moment at the podium here. Jerry Stackhouse puts his arm around Jordan Wright (23 points, 8-12 FG, the game-winner at Kentucky) and tears up, chokes up, noting that Wright was his first recruit. “I get a little bit emotional.”
