Jesse Palmer, Joey Galloway offer insight into Playoff ranking movement

The College Football Playoff committee has plenty to think about before they announce their decision on Tuesday. As usual, there are plenty willing to offer advice.
Several contenders for football’s final four had close wins on Saturday, which some would call ugly wins against lesser foes. Moreover, Michigan State lost to Purdue 40-29 in a surprising upset. The Spartans were ranked No. 3 in last week’s selection show. Expect plenty of shifting to take place on Tuesday.
Former Florida quarterback Jesse Palmer and former Ohio State receiver Joey Galloway both kept Georgia at No. 1, as expected, when they made their picks on College Football Final. Then, things differed a bit. Palmer had Alabama at No. 2, Oklahoma at No. 3, Cincinnati at No. 4 and Ohio State at No. 5. Galloway had Ohio State at No. 2, Alabama at No. 3, Oregon at No. 4 and Cincinnati at No. 5.
“Alabama has had those moments where they do not look great,” Galloway said after he put the Crimson Tide below the Buckeyes.
Both analysts seemed to agree that the competition to be No. 2 behind Georgia is competitive and deep.
“Below Georgia,” Galloway said, “You could move around all of these teams.”
Palmer made his argument for Alabama being No. 2 based on the Crimson Tide’s recent wins and how well Texas A&M has played since upsetting Alabama in College Station last month. Palmer also said he believes that Bama has 2 Heisman candidates: quarterback Bryce Young and linebacker Will Anderson Jr.
