Texas A&M will enter the 2020 season with legitimate hopes of winning the Southeastern Conference for the first time in program history as the Aggies enter their third season under Jimbo Fisher with another top 10 signing class joining a roster already full of massive potential.
However, in order for the Aggies to accomplish that lofty goal, they will need senior leaders to emerge in a big way this offseason.
One of those players that need to step up and lead will be rising senior receiver Jhamon Ausbon, who announced on Tuesday that he will return to College Station for his fourth and final season at Texas A&M.
The Houston native has been a fixture in the starting lineup in College Station dating back to his sophomore season and led the Aggies in receptions (66), receiving yards (872) and receiving touchdowns (5) last fall. With Quartney Davis deciding to declare early for the 2020 NFL Draft, Ausbon’s decision to return is all the more important for the Aggies as they prepare for the 2020 season.
Ausbon announced his decision with the following statement on Twitter:
“Dear 12th Man, after careful thought and consideration, I am excited to announce that I will be returning to Texas A&M for my fourth year and also to get my college degree. I have so much to learn in order to get better as a player, and as a man. More importantly, my teammates and I have business to finish. I couldn’t be more excited to come back and lead my team to be the best team we can be!”
Now all eyes in College Station are on Kellen Mond, who has yet to officially declare his return for his senior season in College Station. Should he return for his final season with the Aggies, Texas A&M will start to generate some buzz as a team to watch in the SEC in 2020.
