Michigan has long been one of the most recognizable programs in college football. It has claimed 11 national titles, won 42 conference titles, and produced 3 Heisman Trophy winners.
One thing it has never done? End a season without a win at home.
Until this season, that is.
The Wolverines were set to host Maryland on Saturday at Michigan Stadium in what was to be their final home game of the season. However, it was canceled on Wednesday due to COVID-19 issues within the Michigan football program.
That means that for the first time in its over 140-year history, and certainly for the first time since “The Big House” opened in 1927, Michigan will not have won a home football game.
It’s been a tough season for Jim Harbaugh as it is, as yet another year of high expectations has resulted in disappointment—meaning the calls for his job have grown louder than before.
For now, the Wolverines are set to end their season on Dec. 12 at Ohio State in the latest chapter of “The Game”. Whether it is played or not, Harbaugh stands a strong chance of never beating the Buckeyes while at the helm of his alma mater.
