Jim Harbaugh suspension: Latest on Michigan coach’s request for temporary restraining order

Jim Harbaugh will not be on the Beaver Stadium sideline.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported on “College GameDay” that Harbaugh did not get a hearing for a temporary restraining order ahead of Saturday’s top-10 clash between Michigan and Penn State. Without a temporary restraining order, Harbaugh’s sideline suspension from the Big Ten stands. Thamel shared on GameDay that the hearing is now set for Friday, Nov. 17.
There will not be a ruling today in Jim Harbaugh’s request for a temporary restraining order, according to a person familiar with the court filings. This means Jim Harbaugh will not coach at Penn State today.

Harbaugh is suspended for the second time this season due to a Michigan football scandal. He missed the Wolverines’ first 3 games as part of a self-imposed suspension by U-M relating to the NCAA’s investigation into recruiting violations.
Michigan was without Harbaugh for games against ECU, UNLV and Bowling Green for the self-imposed suspension. The Big Ten’s suspension impacts the Wolverines during a much more crucial stretch.
Harbaugh will not coach No. 3 Michigan’s game at No. 10 Penn State. If the temporary restraining order is not granted, he stands to also miss U-M’s Week 12 game at Maryland and the regular-season finale against No. 1 Ohio State.
