Jimbo Fisher is in his first recruiting cycle since taking over as head coach at Texas A&M, and he joined the Paul Finebaum Show to discuss the new early signing period on Thursday.

A number of coaches have weighed in negatively on the early period. Nick Saban, among others, recently indicated that he is not a fan of the period and said that it adds more stress to players and coaches across the board.

While Fisher did say he likes having an early period, he admitted that he believes having the early period in the summer would be a better fit.

Paul Finebaum shared Fisher’s comments on Twitter:

While Fisher may have a bit of work ahead of him to improve the Aggies class for 2018, he did sign eight recruits Wednesday with four impressive 4-star players among that group. Included in that group is 4-star OG Luke Matthews, who is indeed the brother of Kevin, Jake, and Mike who also played at A&M.

Here is every player the Aggies signed Wednesday:

  • Max Wright, 4-star SDE, Katy, TX
  • Luke Matthews, 4-star OG, Missouri City, TX
  • Jordan Moore, 4-star S, Yoakum, TX
  • Colten Blanton, 4-star OT, Cypress, TX
  • Montel Parker, 3-star WR, Dickinson, TX
  • Caleb Chapman, 3-star WR, Friendswood, TX
  • Jace Sternberger, 3-star TE, Miami, OK
  • Seth Small, 3-star K, Katy, TX
