Jimbo Fisher explains ‘competitive nature’ of great teams in college football
Jimbo Fisher spoke to the media on Monday after practice. He talked about how competitive nature plays into some of the better teams in the country.
One of the first questions Fisher was asked had to do with some of the better teams he’s had the opportunity of coaching. The question was based around one side of the ball dominating the other at Monday’s practice.
Fisher stated that it happens a lot of times, but it has to do with the competitive nature of the team.
“A lot of times within practice. You go period by period a lot of times because of the competitive nature. When you get into great teams, everybody gets into talent. A lot of times there’s a competitive greatness within you that comes out when you’re challenged. It’s like watching two great boxers go at it. You learn how to compete.”
There may be some truth to what Fisher said. The great teams usually step up in the most challenging games during the season.
Fans will be hoping to see some more “competitive greatness” out of Texas A&M this season. The Aggies missed out on a bowl game in 2022 with a 5-7 record.
The 2023 season opens on Sept. 2 as Texas A&M takes on New Mexico. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
