Joe Burrow steals the show in the new season of Netflix’s Quarterback, which was released on Tuesday.

The second season follows Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals, as well as Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff and Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins throughout the 2024-25 NFL season. Burrow reportedly turned the series down when it was first offered to him, but reconsidered once NFL legend Peyton Manning joined the producer team and eventually signed on.

And we’re all the better for it. Who doesn’t want to listen to one of the NFL’s best passers talk about fossils on the practice field?

A different clip was making the rounds on social media Thursday, though. Burrow and Cincinnati teammate Ja’Marr Chase are breaking down how Burrow wants Chase to set up a defender at the top of a route. The brief moment shows off the incredible chemistry the 2 former LSU stars have, but then it cuts to a “talking head” clip where Burrow shows his adoration for his top wideout.

“Ja’Marr is one of the best players of all time,” Burrow says. “If you’re a quarterback and you’re not going to throw to that guy, then you shouldn’t be the quarterback of the team anymore.”

If Burrow is anything, it’s a staunch proponent for his teammates. He’s proven that time and again with the Bengals.

“I think that’s pretty cool that he’d say something like that,” said Chase. “That means he believes in me.”

Added Burrow: “We’ve just been getting better together for so long that we know exactly what each other is thinking on the field every time.”

Burrow was drafted by the Bengals first overall in the 2020 NFL Draft. Cincinnati took Chase with the fifth pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, reuniting the 2 after a season apart.

As a true sophomore in 2019, Chase brought in 84 receptions from Burrow for 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns. He broke the 200-yard mark in a game 3 times that season, including setting a College Football Playoff national championship record with 221 yards in the win over Clemson that secured a national title for the Tigers. Burrow’s 5,671 yards that season still stand as the fourth-most in a single season in FBS history and his 60 passing touchdowns broke an FBS record.
