Players transferring across college football has become a major issue in recent years. Not many are as known for their transfer story as Joe Burrow, who left Ohio State and landed at LSU last year, and then made this season a record-breaking campaign for the Tigers.

“I always tell them don’t make it an emotional decision,” Burrow said, according to Dan Wolken of USA TODAY. “Don’t walk off the field one day when you get not as many reps as the other person and say screw this I’m leaving.”

Burrow continues to speak highly of his time at Ohio State, including an embrace of coach Ryan Day at the Heisman Trophy ceremony, and gratitude for support from assistant coaches and teammates there.

Earlier this season, Burrow recalled how his best friend, J.T. Barrett, who spent time last year with the New Orleans Saints, said the Tigers were getting a good assistant coach in Joe Brady. Barrett and Burrow remain close, and Barrett was seen this regular season wearing a Burrow jersey on the LSU sideline against Arkansas.

The two met at Ohio State when Burrow was originally thought to be a successor to Barrett. But a preseason broken hand injury derailed Burrow’s chances, and OSU ultimately went with Dwayne Haskins.

Burrow chose to explore his options from Urban Meyer’s program, and he landed with LSU.
