Joe Castiglione is not eliminating future Bedlam matchups just yet.
The Oklahoma athletics director said Wednesday that he has had “really good conversations” with Oklahoma State Athletics Director Chad Weiberg about the future of Bedlam football, Eric Bailey of the Tulsa World reported. Details about contracts and dates with other schools are not available, but Bailey reported that a future meeting is not off the table. Bedlam will continue in other sports going forward.
Last year, Weiberg said playing the game presents logistical issues under the Cowboys’ current scheduling structure.
“We don’t have any openings to play them. We’re full. Unless there are significant undertakings to make the game happen, it can’t happen,” he said.
The Sooners have won 8 of the last 10 meetings in the series, including last year’s 28-13 decision. The Sooners weren’t ranked for the 2022 game for just the 3rd time since the start of the 2000 season.
The series began in 1904 and has seen 117 matchups. Oklahoma has won 91 times, with the Cowboys winning 19 alongside 7 ties.
