Joe Lunardi updated his latest NCAA Tournament projections on Wednesday with the conclusion of the regular season quickly approaching.

Texas received a notable mention in Lunardi’s latest update ahead of the Longhorns’ road game vs. TCU Wednesday night. While the path is not going to be easy, Lunardi believes Texas still has a shot at landing a 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Lunardi makes the case based on the chance Texas has to earn a share of the regular-season Big 12 title. The Longhorns will have to win at No. 22 TCU Wednesday night and home vs. No. 3 Kansas in the regular season finale on Saturday.

Even if Texas shares the Big 12 title, the Longhorns will need some help elsewhere to reach the No. 1 line. Another loss by Purdue — a team that is 2-4 in its last 6 games — would open the door for the Longhorns.

With or without a No. 1 seed, Texas stands well-positioned for March Madness. We’ll see if the team can dial up a deep run this month.
