College hoops’ conference midweek slate is in the books and that means ESPN expert Joe Lunardi has updated his bracketology ahead of a big weekend of SEC hoops headlined by the Big 12/SEC Challenge.

Like his previous bracketology, Lunardi has 5 SEC teams expected to make the field of 68 while one program is in the hunt, but on the outside looking in. Here are his latest projections:

  • Auburn – No. 4 seed (West)
  • Kentucky – No. 5 seed (East)
  • LSU – No. 6 seed (South)
  • Arkansas – No. 8 seed (South)
  • Florida – No. 9 seed (Midwest)
  • Alabama – First Four Out

The notable changes from Lunardi’s previous bracketology is that LSU moved up while Mississippi State is no longer mentioned as a possible tournament team, even after Wednesday’s 77-70 win over Arkansas.

Lunardi previously had LSU as a No. 7 seed in the West. The Tigers defeated Florida in an 84-82 thriller that went down to the buzzer.  Thanks to the tournament’s pod system, Lunardi did not have to change LSU’s opening weekend location of Tampa, Florida.

Mississippi State was previously one of Lunardi’s Next Four Out.
