Joe Milton III is off to a big start, and may look like a human highlight reel at times for No. 12 Tennessee this season. On Saturday, Milton flexed his way to a solid play as he displayed an angry run with a stiff arm on Virginia junior free safety Jonas Sanker for a 4-yard gain on 1st and goal.

On the following play, Tennessee sophomore running back Dylan Sampson ran it in for a 3-yard touchdown to extend the Volunteers’ lead over the Cavaliers 14-0.

Tennessee took a 21-3 lead over Virginia into halftime. The Volunteers accumulated 302 total yards on offense, with 168 of them coming from the rushing game.

Milton has completed 13-of-21 of his passes for 134 yards for a touchdown. Milton rushed for 32 yards and a touchdown on 8 carries.

Milton is in his 3rd season with Tennessee this season after he spent the first 6 seasons of his career with Michigan. He has seen some up-and-downs in his previous 2 seasons at Tennessee as he will look to finish his career strong in his first season-opening start since 2021.
