Joel Klatt is a big believer in former Alabama quarterback Bryce Young as he heads to the NFL.

This week, Klatt went to bat for Young while others criticized his measurements at the NFL Combine this week. Young measured in at 5-foot-10, 204 pounds.

He explained why he isn’t concerned about Young’s lack of size at the next level.

“Does a quarter of an inch here or there matter to me? Does 3 or 4 pounds any direction matter to me? No. Turn on the film,” Klatt said. “What do you see when you turn on the film? A guy that is 100% in charge. He’s in total control of what’s going on out on the field at all times.”

Klatt also discussed some of the specific skills and strengths that Young has which could help him out in the NFL.

“This guy is so intelligent,” Klatt said. “Hyper-accurate. Very athletic in the pocket. He manipulates the pocket as well as anyone I’ve seen, in-particular for his size. He’s also got a quick release that he doesn’t actually have to be fully set to unleash.”

Here’s video of his comments:

Young used all of those traits — and more — during a prolific career with the Crimson Tide. He threw for 8,356 yards and 80 touchdowns during his collegiate career, with the vast majority of that production coming in the last 2 seasons.

Young is a strong contender to be picked No. 1 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft.
