That was a little too easy for Tennessee football. It was also a little too easy for Georgia.

Let’s start with Tennessee. Joey Aguilar is a perfect 5/5 with 62 passing yards and a rushing touchdown less than 3 minutes into the Vols’ monster matchup against Georgia. The Vols opening drive was nothing short of perfection – Kirby Smart’s defensive unit looked completely lost trying to keep up with receiver Braylon Staley, running back DeSean Bishop, and of course the App State transfer himself.

It’s early, but Aguilar’s first drive against the Bulldogs was as close to perfect as it gets. Check out the rushing touchdown that finished it off, with the Vols now up 7-0.

Tennessee obviously still has a lot of work to do in this one, but there’s a reason why Vols fans and national media alike assumed this would be the most competitive matchup against Georgia of the Josh Heupel era. Not like there’s much competition – Georgia has mostly owned Heupel through his first 4 years with Tennessee.

In fact, Georgia answered Aguilar’s incredible drive quite quickly, with Gunner Stockton leading a touchdown drive of his own just a few minutes later. Stockton, like Aguilar, rushed it in himself after burning Vols redshirt freshman corner Ty Redmond on the first throw of the Bulldogs’ drive.

The score is 7-7 with Aguilar and Tennessee about to kick off their second drive of the afternoon.
