John Calipari admits he ‘didn’t even know’ the day for Arkansas’s next game

John Calipari jumped to Arkansas in the offseason, getting out of Kentucky with the task to rebuild Razorback basketball. However, that tenure is off to an absolutely rocky start in SEC play, and the head coach had a startling admission after Saturday’s loss to Florida.
To open the league slate, Arkansas faced Tennessee, Ole Miss and Florida, falling to 0-3 on Saturday. All 3 opponents have been ranked thus far, including a pair of top-10 teams, but it is not the kind of performance many expected from Calipari’s group.
Making the situation more interesting, Calipari openly admitted at his postgame press conference that he was oblivious to when the midweek game against LSU was scheduled for. The coach said he was “hoping” for Wednesday, but that’s not the case. It will be Tuesday night in Baton Rouge.
“Got a tough one coming up, I didn’t even know when we play. I was hoping it was Wednesday. But I knew it would be on the road because we’ve had 2 homes,” said Calipari. “And all of a sudden, it is.
“So we’ve got to do something tomorrow, do something on Monday, travel and go on the road and try and get this thing right.”
That’s likely not the kind of information you want from your head coach, particularly in the middle of a 3-game losing streak. We’ll see how the Razorbacks respond with back-to-back road trips to LSU and Mizzou.
Just make sure John Calipari knows when the game is scheduled.
