John Calipari channels Nick Saban with ‘rat poison’ quote after Kentucky rises to No. 5 in AP Poll

John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats are ranked No. 5 in the country this week after a big win at Kansas on Saturday night in the Big 12/SEC Challenge.
But, there’s still a long way to go in the college hoops season, so Coach Cal wants to make sure his guys aren’t resting on their accomplishments just yet.
On Monday, Calipari channeled Alabama coach Nick Saban, saying the Wildcats can’t get caught up in the “rat poison” that comes with the high ranking:
"Don't eat the rat poison," Calipari says he told the team regarding rankings and being told how great they are now. "Remember what people were saying a month ago."

Saban has made the “rat poison” phrase ubiquitous in college sports now, it seems.
We’ll see if the Wildcats can continue to impress this week at home against Vanderbilt and at Alabama on Saturday night. If so, another rise in the rankings could be in order this time next week.
