John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats will enter the 2022-23 season as a potential top-5 team. But, they’ll also enter this coming season without forward Keion Brooks Jr., who started 33 games for the Wildcats last year.
Brooks recently withdrew his name from the 2022 NBA Draft, but he announced on Monday that he was transferring to Washington for the 2022-23 campaign.
On Monday evening, Calipari took to Twitter to express his gratitude for Brooks and his contributions to the Kentucky program, wishing him the best with the Huskies:
I want to wish @KeionB_12 the best as he finishes his career at Washington.
Keion gave his best to our program, was loyal, improved every year and was a great teammate. I have great respect for Washington and will be rooting for them and Keion – unless we have to play them! pic.twitter.com/vz8WF424Ys

Brooks averaged 10.8 points and 4.4 rebounds per game for the Wildcats last year, so he’ll be tough to replace.
It’s clear Calipari enjoyed having him in Lexington. Classy tweet from the Kentucky coach.
