Less than a week after entering the NCAA transfer portal, former South Carolina defensive back John Dixon has already made up his mind regarding his next stop in college football.

If you missed it last week, Dixon announced he had entered the NCAA transfer portal after spending two seasons playing for Will Muschamp.

On Monday, Dixon announced his decision to transfer to Penn State.

“I want to say I’m thankful for the staff at USC and my brothers that still play there. After a lot of thought and prayer Me and my family have made the decision for me to transfer and play for The Penn State University,” Dixon posted.

Dixon made 22 appearances in his two seasons in Columbia registering 37 tackles, five passes defended and one interception during his Gamecock career.

South Carolina is set to have an entirely new secondary in 2021 following the departures of starting corners Jaycee Horn and Israel Mukuamu to the 2021 NFL Draft, Shilo Sanders leaving the Gamecock program for Jackson State, Jammie Robinson entering the portal and RJ Roderick’s status up in the air.

Now we can officially add Dixon’s name to the list of defensive backs not returning to Columbia next season.
