John Metchie III had a special moment on Sunday. The former Alabama wideout made his first NFL catch since his battle with Leukemia.

Metchie was taken in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. His first catch of his career went for 17 yards against the Indianapolis Colts.

It has been a longer road than anticipated for Metchie after being diagnosed with cancer as a rookie. The fans at the game gave Metchie a standing ovation shortly after the big achievement.

The Texans were not able to win the game to earn their first win of the season, losing 31-20 at home.

If Metchie can be the player he was in college, he could a dangerous weapon in the Houston offense. Metchie had 1,142 yards receiving in his final year in Tuscaloosa.

Hopefully Metchie will start to receive more playing time now that he has some NFL experience under his belt.

Houston faces the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3. Kickoff is set for Sept. 24 at 1 p.m. ET on FOX.
