John Parker Wilson joined the chorus of those weighing in on the updating timing of Oklahoma and Texas joining the SEC in 2024.

The former Alabama quarterback appeared on WJOX in Birmingham, Alabama and “McElroy and Cubelic In the morning” and reacted to the news by saying it’s good to “rip the Band-Aid off.”

“It makes sense,” Wilson said. “When these deals are struck, and you know it’s going to happen and then you’ve got to wait, it would have been, 3 seasons to actually join the conference. I think it was a good thing that they figured out a way to go ahead and get out and get involved in the SEC. It’s going to happen, they knew the deadline was going to get there, so go ahead and move it up.”

Wilson noted that it didn’t take long for Texas A&M and Missouri to be part of the culture and tradition of the SEC, as fans will get ready for better games all around.

“It’s going to be a great product on the field, and I know the fans and the players are looking forward to it,” Wilson said.
