John Parker Wilson was on “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning” on JOX 94.5 to talk about who is going to be the starting quarterback for Alabama as it opens the season at home against Middle Tennessee.

The former Alabama quarterback and color analyst believes redshirt sophomore Jalen Milroe is going to be the first quarterback out for Alabama. He went on to talk about the labels of the quarterback race between Milroe, redshirt sophomore and Notre Dame transfer Tyler Buchner and redshirt freshman Ty Simpson.

“I don’t think we can call anybody a backup yet, or call anybody a starter yet, even based off tomorrow’s game. It will probably be after the Texas game where we start calling someone a starter.”

Parker talked about how it was more important for the quarterbacks to come in and lead the offense efficiently than to go out and make big plays.

He also talked about how the offense will run the ball more with Tommy Rees as the new offensive coordinator of the Tide starting in Week 1.

Alabama will host Middle Tennessee on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
