Johni Broome says prank from Tennessee fans drove him to play ‘no matter what’
Johni Broome returned to action on Saturday night after missing multiple games with an ankle injury.
Broome was excellent in Auburn’s 53-51 win over Tennessee as he totaled 16 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists in the victory. Broome was questionable for this contest throughout the week, but said he got a final push from Tennessee fans on Saturday morning. Broome shared a video on Instagram showing he was pranked by Vols fans who put Tennessee signs on his car.
“I woke up this morning, I come over to my car, and I see 2 Tennessee signs and pitchforks in a ‘T’ logo,” Broome said. “So, at that moment, I knew I was playing no matter what.”
Here’s a look at the prank:
Broome’s return to the lineup is a huge boost for Auburn. He’s amongst the favorites to win National Player of the Year and has arguably been the biggest reason why Auburn sits at No. 1 in the AP Top 25. He’s averaging 18 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists per game so far in 2024-25.
Auburn will play at LSU on Wednesday.
