Former Texas A&M quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel is ready for Week 6 of college football season. Ahead of No. 10 Alabama hosting No. 16 Vanderbilt on Saturday, Manziel announced he’ll be on the Commodores’ sideline, showing support for star quarterback Diego Pavia.
Manziel, who famously led the Aggies to a 29-24 upset over Alabama in 2012, shared the news on the Nightcap Podcast with Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson.
“Guess what? I’m going to Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Saturday. I’m on the Vandy sideline. I’m wearing a Pavia jersey,” Manziel said.
The Commodores aren’t the same Vanderbilt of old. Undefeated at 5-0, they’re led by Pavia and one of the top tight ends in the country in Eli Stowers. Manziel’s presence on the sideline adds even more intrigue to a matchup where history, pride, and SEC bragging rights collide.
Alabama enters with a 32-5-2 all-time home record against Vanderbilt. Still, the Tide will be out for revenge after a 40-35 loss to the Commodores last year.
Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
