The 2025 college football coaching carousel has turned into a vortex within the past 48 hours, sweeping up multiple targets as programs all jockey to fill their vacancies.

One of the hottest Group of 5 names in the current cycle is Tulane coach Jon Sumrall, who is reportedly expected to make a decision on his future Sunday.

Sumrall, 43, is reportedly being courted by Florida, Auburn and Ole Miss – the latter should Lane Kiffin depart Oxford as anticipated – as well as being lured back to Tulane with a multi-year extension and pay bump.

Sumrall reportedly makes $3 million per season at Tulane, and the Green Wave have put on the table an extension worth $4 million per should he stay in New Orleans.

The Florida opening comes after the Gators fired Billy Napier. Auburn’s job is open after Hugh Freeze was let go by the Tigers.

Sumrall carries a sparkling 42-11 record in his 4 seasons of head coaching experience. He is 19-7 in 2 seasons at Tulane, with back-to-back American Conference championship game appearances. He coached Troy from 2022-23, winning 23 of 27 games and 2 straight Sun Belt crowns.

Sumrall’s SEC experience includes playing at Kentucky and serving as an assistant at both Ole Miss and his alma mater.
