The Jordan Burch saga has finally come to an end.

The five-star defensive lineman from Columbia may have committed to South Carolina during the Early Signing Period on national television but he never actually signed with the program as Will Muschamp and the Gamecocks patiently waited for the fax machine to deliver Burch’s letter of intent.

That prolonged Burch’s recruitment in 2020 and caused some uneasiness within the South Carolina fan base as the local five-star lineman took an unofficial visit to LSU, the school Burch admitted finished No. 2 in his recruitment during the Early Signing Period, before he took an official visit to South Carolina’s campus leading up to National Signing Day.

In the end, Burch announced he will stick to his December commitment and will play his college football for the Gamecocks during a ceremony at the Hammond School with Muschamp in attendance.

The 6-foot-5, 275-pound Hammond School product is rated as the No. 8 overall prospect in the nation and the No. 2 defensive tackle by 247Sports Composite Rankings. Following the conclusion of his outstanding high school career, Burch played in the 2020 Under Armour All-American Game.
