Josh Heupel comments on Harrison Bailey entering the transfer portal

The Tennessee Volunteers have Hendon Hooker installed as their QB1 right now, with Joe Milton III seemingly in control of the backup spot.
That left Harrison Bailey, who also competed for the starting job during fall camp, as the odd man out. He entered the NCAA transfer portal last week.
On Monday, during a press conference, coach Josh Heupel weighed in on Bailey’s decision to transfer (via KnoxNews.com):
“Because of who he is and what he has been about, I love both the person and the player,” Heupel said. “I wish him a ton of success he moves on.
“In some ways, disappointed in the timing of when he makes that decision,” Heupel said. “It is a different era in college athletics with the transfer portal over the last couple years.”
Now, we’ll just have to wait and see where Bailey ends up next. It seems the Vols will have to move on without him, though.
