Josh Heupel disputes punter’s claim of having the better arm: Now we know he will lie

Josh Heupel has a room of talented quarterbacks at Tennessee. It also sounds like he has one punter who is very confident in his own abilities throwing the football.
During Monday’s press conference, Heupel was asked about a recent claim from punter Jackson Ross. Ross — who used to play Australian rules football — claimed he has the third-best arm on the team.
That ranking presumably puts Ross behind starter Joe Milton and 5-star freshman Nico Iamaleava but ahead of his head coach. Heupel disagreed with that assessment.
“Now we know that Jackson will lie, alright? Okay? He may be 4th, but not 3rd,” said Heupel with a smile.

Ross redshirted as a true freshman for the Vols a season ago, but maybe he can work his way into game action this fall. It also sounds like he isn’t afraid to let loose on a pass should a fake-punt play be tossed in his direction.
