But, Heupel isn’t letting his undefeated squad, ranked No. 3 in the nation, lose its focus ahead of a matchup against an FCS foe.
As you can see below, Heupel told SEC Network reporter Alyssa Lang that he’s proud of the focus his team showed this week:

“They’ve been really mature over the course of the week,” Heupel said. “Really love what they’ve done Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday on the grass and finished our prep up at the end of the week. … Good teams get better, individually and collectively as a group. The challenge is really us every single week. We’ve got to accept that challenge and take what we’ve learned from the Alabama game. There’s a whole lot of things we can do a whole lot better. Our players got a dose of reality on Monday. We’ve got to continue to improve.”
Tennessee hosts UT Martin on Saturday at noon Eastern time. The game from Neyland Stadium can be seen on the SEC Network as the Vols continue their quest for an undefeated season, looking to improve to 7-0 in 2022. We’ll see if they can get the job done and continue a march toward a Nov. 5 showdown at Georgia.
