Josh Heupel noncommittal when asked about Tennessee’s QB situation ahead of Florida game
Tennessee opens SEC play Saturday night with a huge game at No. 11 Florida, and one of the key storylines for the Volunteers will be what they do at quarterback.
Joe Milton, the starter to begin the season, was injured against Pittsburgh on Sept. 11 and has not played since, with Hendon Hooker having taken over as the starter.
With Milton on the mend, Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel was asked during his Monday press conference if the Michigan transfer would start against the Gators if he was healthy.
Heupel, however, would not tip is hand, saying, “I never speak in hypotheticals.”

Also on Monday, Heupel was asked about his defense having to prepare for the Gators’ dynamic quarterback combination of Emory Jones and Anthony Richardson.
Heupel downplayed the challenge of preparing for 2 QBs by saying “Overall, schematically, there’s not a ton of difference in what you’re trying to do.”
Heupel: I think our kids understand [the importance of this game] and are excited for it.

Heupel did, however, admit that his players know this is a big game.
“I think our kids understand [the importance of this game] and are excited for it,” he said.
