The first spring camp of the Josh Heupel era came and went without a decision being made regarding the team’s starting quarterback, but that’s something that was all part of the plan according to offensive coordinator Alex Golish.
Instead of narrowing the race, Tennessee hit the transfer portal this offseason to add former Michigan starting quarterback Joe Milton to add to a QB room featuring Virginia Tech transfer Hendon Hooker and returning players Harrison Bailey and Brian Maurer.
According to Heupel, Tennessee still has “four guys that are battling” for the right to start this season under center on Rocky Top.
