In the lead-up to the 2019 NFL Draft, there was talk that former Alabama RB Josh Jacobs might be the top running back available in the draft despite not being the Crimson Tide’s primary running back in 2018.
Jacobs, however, may have hurt his draft stock when he recorded 40-yard dash times in the range of 4.6-4.66 seconds on Alabama’s March 20 Pro Day. He had a chance at a do-over and took full advantage.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports that Jacobs clocked 40-yard dash times ranging from 4.52-4.56 seconds, a significant improvement, Tuesday at Alabama’s second Pro Day. He did not run the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Even after the disappointing 40-yard dash time from the first Pro Day, CBS Sports ranked Jacobs as the best running back in the draft (with former teammate Damien Harris at No. 2) and No. 22 overall. Perhaps the new time will boost that overall ranking and potentially push Jacobs into the middle of the first round.
#Bama RB prospect Josh Jacobs ran his 40-yard dash again today at Alabama’s second Pro Day and the times ranged from 4.52 – 4.56, source said. An improvement from the 220-pounder.
