When it comes to being a great running back, few know what it takes better than Marcus Allen. Taking that into consideration, Josh Jacobs has to feel honored to receive a shoutout from one of the best players to ever wear the Raider uniform.

During his lengthy 16-year NFL career, which began in Kansas City, Allen racked up 12,243 rushing yards and 123 touchdowns on the ground. Allen left the game as the all-time rushing touchdown leader. If that wasn’t enough, he added another 5,411 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns via receptions. Following his outstanding playing career, Allen was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2003.

Now that the Raiders have selected Jacobs with the 24th overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Hall of Famer reached out to the former Alabama ball carrier and the new face of the franchise’s backfield with a special message.

Compliments don’t get much better than that.

The hype for Jacobs’ debut in Oakland is already high but following the season-ending injury to veteran running back Isaiah Crowell, the Raiders will likely look to the rookie to pick up the production slotted to go to Crowell in 2019. Jacobs opened with 9/1 odds to win Offensive Rookie of the Year, in case you were wondering.
