Josh Jacobs is having an incredible debut season for the Oakland Raiders and despite dealing with a shoulder issue, the rookie from Alabama was expected to finish the season on the field.
That was before Jacobs had to have an unexpected Christmas surgery but his unplanned trip to the hospital had nothing to do with his shoulder, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.
Jacobs went under the knife to deal with an infection, according to Rapoport. Incredibly, despite the surgery, the Raiders are still expecting Jacobs to play Sunday in Oakland’s regular-season finale, Rapoport is reporting.
The running back has rushed for 1,150 yards this season and seven touchdowns. He also has 20 catches for 166 yards. The Raiders selected Jacobs with the 24th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
The Raiders are scheduled to play at Denver on Sunday.
