Josh Norman reveals Jonathan Allen tricked him into thinking Amari Cooper trash-talked the Redskins

Even though the Washington Redskins and Oakland Raiders rarely play each other, fans may have noticed that Redskins CB Josh Norman had a chip on his shoulder during last year’s 27-10 win over the Raiders.
Well, it turns out, that aggressiveness can be traced back to a lie former Alabama DL Jonathan Allen told Norman. Allen, who was a Redskins rookie, played with Oakland WR Amari Cooper during their Crimson Tide days.
Apparently, he told Norman that Cooper had been trash-talking him, saying he was going to have a huge day against Norman. It turns out that Allen simply made that story up.
At about the 48-minute mark of the below video podcast, Norman explains what went on:
“I really wanted to come out there and make sure they knew, like ‘Please don’t disrespect us before the game,'” Norman said. “Basically, I found out that he lied to me about the whole thing. So I’m like, ‘He didn’t say all that?'”
To which Norman said Allen replied:
“Nah, man. I just really wanted to win, man.”
The Redskins won the game, so Allen’s tactic worked. Moving forward, though, he’ll have to find new ways to motivate Norman.
